NEW JERUSALEM

NEW JERUSALEM

Featured Scriptures: Revelation 21:3-4, Revelation 21:23, Revelation 22:1-5

After all the seals, trumpets, bowls, battles and judgement, Revelation finally shows us what everything has been moving towards. A new heaven. A new earth. A holy city descending from God. Death is gone, tears are wiped away and a voice from the throne announces the reality humanity has longed for since Eden: God is dwelling with His people.

"New Jerusalem", featured on The End Is Glory, enters the final chapters of Revelation and the restoration that follows God's judgement of evil. The former world has passed away and creation is made new. The holy city appears prepared like a bride, but its greatest wonder is not its walls, gates or splendour. God Himself is there. The story that began with humanity losing unhindered fellowship with God ends with His redeemed people seeing His face.

Revelation 21:3-4 declares that God's dwelling is now with humanity and that He will wipe away every tear, with death, mourning, crying and pain passing away. Revelation 21:23 reveals that the city has no need of the sun or moon because God's glory illuminates it and the Lamb is its light. Revelation 22:1-5 completes the vision with the river of the water of life flowing from the throne, the tree of life, the removal of the curse and God's servants seeing His face and reigning for ever and ever. Together, these Scriptures reveal not simply a better version of the present world, but the complete restoration of creation in the presence of God.

A city descending like a bride. Named gates and apostolic foundations. No temple because God and the Lamb are its sanctuary. No sun because the Lamb Himself is its light. A crystal river flowing from the throne. The tree of life appearing once again. Open gates, no night and the face of God finally seen. "New Jerusalem" gathers Revelation's extraordinary final images into a vision where everything lost through the fall has been restored and every shadow has disappeared.

For anyone searching for Christian songs about the New Jerusalem, songs inspired by Revelation 21 or Revelation 22, worship songs about the new heaven and new earth, heaven, the holy city, God wiping away every tear, no more death or sorrow, the Lamb as the light, the river of life, the tree of life, seeing God's face, the end of the curse, eternal life, God making all things new, or believers reigning with Christ forever, "New Jerusalem" gives voice to the destination towards which the entire biblical story is moving. Christian hope is not merely about escaping what is broken. It is about God making all things new and dwelling forever with His redeemed people.

The Bible begins with a garden, a river and the tree of life. Near its end, they appear again, but now there is no serpent, no curse and no possibility of another fall. "New Jerusalem" leaves us where Revelation leaves God's people: in His presence, in His light, seeing His face and reigning without end. After everything that passes away, this is what remains. The end is glory.
