WE WILL KEEP WATCH

WE WILL KEEP WATCH

Featured Scriptures: Matthew 25:13, Mark 13:35-37, Revelation 19:7-8

What does it look like to live as though Jesus really is coming back? Not to calculate dates. Not to withdraw from the world. Not to watch the sky in fear. Scripture gives us a different picture: hearts awake, lives set apart, eyes fixed on Christ and a Bride preparing with expectation for her Groom.

"We Will Keep Watch", featured on Until the King Returns, is a song about readiness for the return of Jesus Christ. Against a world where truth can become blurred and temporary pleasures compete for the believer's affection, its response is not panic but faithfulness: "We will keep watch through the night." The waiting becomes active, expressed through holiness, hope and steadfast devotion to Jesus.

Matthew 25:13 closes Jesus' parable of the ten virgins with a direct command to keep watch because the day and hour of His return are unknown. Mark 13:35-37 repeats that urgency as Jesus tells His followers to remain alert for the Master's coming. Revelation 19:7-8 carries the imagery towards its glorious fulfilment, where the marriage of the Lamb has come and His Bride has made herself ready. Together, these passages transform watchfulness from anxious speculation into a life prepared for Christ.

Night, burning hearts, the waiting Bride, the approaching Groom, fading earthly kingdoms and the sound of a final trumpet give the song an unmistakable sense of expectation. Yet beneath those images is an equally important confession: "Not by our strength or power, not by what we've done, but by Your Holy Spirit the victory is won." Readiness is not portrayed as human perfection, but as a Spirit-empowered life continually turned towards Jesus.

For anyone searching for Christian songs about the Second Coming, worship songs about Jesus returning, songs inspired by Matthew 25:13, music based on Mark 13:35-37, songs about the Bride of Christ and the Bridegroom, Revelation 19, preparing for Jesus' return, keeping watch, the last days, the final trumpet, holiness, heaven, eternal hope, or staying faithful until Christ comes again, "We Will Keep Watch" gives voice to that expectation. It asks not whether we can predict when the King will return, but whether our hearts will still be burning for Him when He does.

One day, watching will become seeing. The trumpet will sound, sorrow and pain will give way, and the King of glory will come in victory to reign. Until that day, "We Will Keep Watch" leaves the Church with its posture: awake, expectant, faithful and fixed on Jesus.
