Death Has Lost: whispering HOPE Celebrates the Victory of the Risen Christ

Death had a moment. Jesus has eternity.

Death Has Lost, the fifteenth release in the whispering HOPE collection, is a five-song Easter EP that looks beyond the sorrow of the cross to what Christ’s resurrection changed forever. Moving through the finished work of Jesus, resurrection life, surrendered worship, the certainty of His return and the life of Christ within the believer, the EP celebrates a victory that did not remain at an empty tomb.

“Before I Even Ask” opens in the confidence of a God who already knows what His children need, turning prayer away from anxious striving and towards trust in the Father. “Alive Forevermore” lifts the focus to the risen Jesus, declaring the One who conquered death and now lives forever.

“Crowns Come Down” becomes the worship response, laying honour, achievement and glory before the One who alone is worthy. “When the King Arrives” looks forward to Christ’s return, carrying the expectation of the day when the reigning King is revealed in glory. “The Pulse Beneath My Days” closes the EP intimately, moving from the cosmic victory of resurrection to its personal reality: the life of Christ at work within the believer.

The lyrics for Death Has Lost were written by Rachel Samuel, with music and production by Gresha Schuilling and mastering by Shimron Fernando.

For Rachel Samuel, the heart of Death Has Lost lies in what resurrection means beyond Easter morning:

“These songs look at resurrection as more than an event we remember once a year. Jesus is alive now. That truth changes the way we pray, the way we worship, the way we wait for His return and the way we live today. Death lost because Christ lives.”

For Gresha Schuilling, the production was shaped to let that victory grow across the EP:

“I wanted the music to keep revealing another dimension of what it means that Jesus is alive. There is trust, triumph, surrender, expectation and finally something deeply personal. The resurrection is enormous, but it also reaches right into the life of the believer.”

Shimron Fernando reflects on carrying that movement through the final sound:

“The EP moves between intimacy and celebration, so the mastering needed to preserve both. The goal was to let the quieter moments remain close while giving the resurrection declarations the scale and lift they needed.”

Death Has Lost begins with trust, rises into resurrection and worship, looks towards the returning King and ends with His life within us. The grave could not keep Jesus, and because He lives, death no longer gets the final word.
