From Fasting to Fire: whispering HOPE Unveils Set Apart

Some seasons empty us. Others reveal what was already waiting to rise.

Set Apart, the eighth release in the whispering HOPE collection, traces a journey from surrender into Spirit-filled living. Across eight songs, the album moves through fasting, choosing the narrow way, spiritual gifts, freedom from fear, faithful sowing, divine purpose, transformation and the unmistakable voice of God.

“Refined in the Fast” opens in the quiet place where surrender strips away distraction and makes room for God to work within us. “Two Roads, One Cross” brings that surrender to a decision, confronting listeners with the narrow way of Christ and the choice to follow Him when another road looks easier. “Tongues of Fire” erupts with the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, while “Fear Has No Hold” answers anxiety with the peace and courage found in God.

“Where the Good Things Grow” turns towards the seeds we sow and the faithfulness required before the harvest can be seen. “Chosen for This” speaks into purpose, reminding listeners that calling begins in the heart of God, while “New Wine Rising” celebrates the transformation that comes when He makes something new. “The Voice of God” closes the album where the journey has been leading all along: learning to recognise the Shepherd’s voice and follow where He leads.

The album’s lyrics were written by Shimron Fernando, with music and production by Gresha Schuilling and mastering by Shimron Fernando.

For Gresha Schuilling, Set Apart became a production journey from restraint into release:

“The album begins with fasting, surrender and choice, so I wanted the production to leave space for that inward work before opening into the fire, freedom and movement of the later songs. By the time we reach ‘The Voice of God’, the journey has changed from simply becoming quiet before Him to being ready to hear and follow.”

For Shimron Fernando, the songs explore what a set-apart life can look like in very different moments:

“The lyrics move through surrender, decisions, fear, calling and transformation, but the thread is the same: what happens when we choose God’s way over everything competing for our attention. Being set apart is not about withdrawing from life. It is about knowing whose voice we follow within it.”

Set Apart begins by laying something down and ends by hearing where to go next. Between the two is a life refined, empowered and transformed by the Spirit of God.
