When Faith Refuses to Let Go: whispering HOPE Unveils Hold Fast

Faith is not only revealed in what we believe when everything is going well. Sometimes it is revealed by what we refuse to let go.

Hold Fast, the eighteenth release in the whispering HOPE collection, is a five-song Christian EP about enduring faith, the kind that remains when circumstances change, answers take longer than expected and following God requires perseverance. Across the project, faith moves beyond a moment of inspiration into something tested, strengthened and lived.

“Still Standing” opens from the other side of pressure, declaring a faith that has been shaken but has not fallen. “Through the Fire” moves directly into the testing, confronting the seasons that expose what faith is really anchored to.

“Faithful Through It All” turns the focus from our endurance to God’s faithfulness, recognising that the reason we can remain is because He has remained faithful first. “I Will Not Let Go” makes that response personal, choosing trust when circumstances offer every reason to release it. “Hold Fast” closes the EP with its defining declaration, calling believers to keep their confidence anchored in Christ and refuse to surrender what God has spoken.

The lyrics across Hold Fast were written by Gresha Schuilling, Rachel Samuel, and Shimron Fernando, each contributing different songs to the EP. Music and production are by Gresha Schuilling, with mastering by Shimron Fernando.

For Gresha Schuilling, the production needed to sound like faith gaining strength rather than simply beginning strong:

“I wanted the music to carry the feeling of endurance. Not everything needed to arrive at full strength immediately. There are moments where the songs have to wrestle, breathe and build, because that is what holding fast can feel like. By the end, the strength feels different because it has been tested.”

Rachel Samuel reflects on the lyrical heart running through the project:

“There is something powerful about faith that has had reasons to give up and chooses not to. These songs do not pretend difficult seasons are easy. They speak from within them, but they keep returning to the same decision: God is faithful, so I will keep trusting Him.”

For Shimron Fernando, that tension between pressure and perseverance shaped the sound:

“The EP needed weight without becoming heavy. In the mastering, I wanted the difficult moments to retain their tension while allowing the hope in the songs to keep breaking through. The sound grows with the message until the final declaration feels settled rather than simply loud.”

Hold Fast is not about pretending faith never struggles. It is about discovering what remains after the struggle: a God who is still faithful and a heart that still chooses Him.

When everything else says let go, faith answers: hold fast.
